About the Role

The IAIO Canadian National Team Leader plays a key role in supporting youth AI education in Canada and leading the Canadian National Team at IAIO 2026 in Slovenia. This is a volunteer position dedicated to mentorship, academic guidance, and international representation.
 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
1. Canadian Residency or Employment
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or an individual currently working in Canada.
2. Professional Qualifications
Applicants must satisfy at least one of the following:
a. University faculty member (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) specializing in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related disciplines.
b. Holding a PhD or being in the final stages of PhD completion in AI or a closely related field.
c. Holding a Master’s degree in AI or a closely related field, and at least 5 years of professional experience in AI or applied AI fields.
3. Availability

Must be available to travel to Slovenia from February 22–28, 2026.

 

Responsibilities

The Team Leader is expected to:
1. Support and supervise the Canadian National Team throughout the entire competition period.
2. Attend all official IAIO meetings, represent Canada, and communicate or negotiate with IAIO committee members as needed.
3. Provide technical mentorship to Canadian competitors, including answering subject-related questions and assisting in the analysis of competition problems when appropriate.
